Commercial assessment request

Request a Commercial Assessment

For HOAs, condominium associations, marinas, developments, property managers and municipal facilities. Tell us about the structure and how decisions get made — both shape what the assessment needs to deliver.

Organization

Organization

Who owns or manages the waterfront structure.

Property type
Location

Location

Where the structure is. A community or facility name is fine if there is no street number.

Project size

Project size

An approximate figure is enough — the assessment establishes the real extent.

Condition

Condition

What has been observed, and what the structure is made of.

What conditions have been reported?

Select everything that applies anywhere along the structure.

Photographs

Photographs

Images from along the structure, not just the worst section — condition usually varies.

Photographs that actually help

  • Wide photograph of the wallStand back far enough to show the whole run, and where the problem sits along it.
  • Close-up of the damaged areasInclude something for scale — a coin, a tape measure, your hand.
  • The ground behind the wallAny depressions, soft spots, cracks in hardscape or exposed hardware.
  • Exposed tiebacks and the wall capAnything metal that looks like it should have been buried, and the full length of the cap.
  • Water-side photograph, where safely accessibleFrom a dock or the shoreline at low tide. Only if you can do it from stable ground.

Tip: photographs taken at low tide show considerably more of the structure — including the toe, which is where the most consequential damage usually is.

Stay safe getting these

Take photographs from stable ground only. Do not walk on ground you suspect is undermined, climb on a damaged or leaning wall, or enter the water to get a better angle. If an area looks unstable, photograph it from a distance — a distant photograph is more useful than an injury.

Process & timing

Process & timing

Knowing how decisions get made here shapes what the findings need to look like.

Board approval, reserve study cycle, budget year, owner vote — whatever applies. Findings presented the right way survive the approval process; the same findings presented badly do not.

Previous assessments or repairs, known access constraints, storm history, operational restrictions.
